KS VentHood - Roof Ventilator

KS VentHood: Roof Ventilation System that makes comfortable and cooling inside the building. Can be reduced temperature of the air inside up to 3.5 degree celsius. Remove overheated air from roof, increase circulation and ventilation.

KS Group has developed the roof ventilator that is the copyright of the company, named KS VentHood. The objective is to improve the work efficiency for work faster and easier with reduce the height of roof ventilator system to be 250mmm, which make easier to walk across the KS VentHood. Further more, designed to increase the ability to prevent small and tiny animals into the building.

There are 2 types: KS VentHood Guard and KS VentHood Superguard can be used with all roof profile. Have a special flashing to prevent the leakage.

Because KS VentFlow, the existing system is difficulty in roof maintenance because you can't walk across KS VentFlow which has 950 mm. height. Also, the another point is unable to prevent tiny animal into building. Thus, KS Group has developed the latest roof ventilator “KS VentHood”. To reduce the height of roof ventilator system to be 250mmm, which make easier to walk across the KS VentHood. Still circulation and ventilation. Furthermore, designed to perforate steel, increase the ability to prevent small and tiny animals into the building.

There are 2 types :

  1. KS VentHood Guard, The frame is Z-Section and perforate to small holes. Prevent small animal into the building such as bird, snake, mouse, squirrel
  2. KS VentHood SuperGuard, The frame is Z-Section and perforate to tiny holes. Prevent insect and tiny animal into the building.

Techniques for ventilation in factories or buildings

There are two types: Active Ventilation and Passive Ventilation

  1. Active Ventilation or Mechanical Ventilation systems use mechanical energy to ventilate air, such as fans and air conditioning systems.
  2. Passive Ventilation or Natural Ventilation systems use natural forces from wind for ventilation which can flow out through the opening from the inside to the outside. Relies on air circulation By natural wind (Natural Convective Circulation), which is “hot air will rise up high and cool air will flow in to replace it”, reducing the heat without using electrical energy. To make cool the building faster, that is, to improve the higher efficiency of ventilation

*Air change is the amount that needs air to be added to the area. to replace the air in that area of the factory or building This can be calculated from the Air change rate to calculate the amount of air circulation in the area. The obtained values can be compared with relevant standards or laws, such as according to ministerial regulations or EIT standards, etc.

Passive Ventilation or Natural Ventilation system is popular in industrial factory building. KS Group has continuously developed to latest product, that is the copyright of the company, named “ KS VentHood Roof ventilation”. Designed to be only 190 mm high by reducing the height of the system but still maintains ventilation efficiency. The objective is to improve the work efficiency for work faster and easier with reduce the height of roof ventilator system to be 250mmm, which make easier to walk across the KS VentHood. Furthermore , designed to increase the ability to prevent small and tiny animals into the building.

Behavior of Airflow circulation inside the factory that have KS VentHood on roof

Note: From the figure, the air velocity at the entrance to the factory is equal to 0.5 m/s when air flows into the factory with the KS VentFlow700 installed, opening size 700 millimeters, at installation spacing of 15 meters, which has better ventilation than the factory without KS VentFlow700 system. As a result, the accumulated heat layer is less than the factory without KS VentFlow700 system. This make the air flow from the front of factory into inside the factory better. The air circulation within the factory will decrease when the Heat Flux value in the roof area  is higher.

*Heating value on the roof Shown by the heat energy intensity from the sun's radiation (Heat Flux) between 600 - 800 W/m2, which is the heat load during the summer in Thailand.
***Study with a building model measuring 125x25 m2 that has no openings (non-vent) on the roof gable.

From the figure, the “temperature” results of calculations using the finite element calculation method of a prototype factory model with KS VentHood installed, at installation spacing of 15 meters, and Heat Flux on the roof is 800 W/m2.

After installed the roof ventilation system “KS VentHood” both of Guard type and SuperGuard type at along the roof ridge and roof slope(with spacing of 12 meters). Found that can be reduced temperature of the air inside up to 3.54 degree Celsius at 1.5 m height from floor as shown in table . This results make worker can work comfortable and feel less uncomfortable.
